Mauro Sergio Romagnolo (São Paulo, 1957) is a sculptor, painter, designer, intermedia artist and teacher. He studied at the Colégio Iadê in São Paulo between 1976 and 1977. In 1980, he was admitted to the Plastic Arts course at Faculdade de Artes Plásticas da Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado – Faap in São Paulo. He comes into contact with the work of Regina Silveira, Nelson Leimer and Julio Plaza. Between 1980 and 1984, is a teacher in public and private schools. He teaches painting at Faap between 1985 and 1986. During that year, he held his first solo exhibition at Galeria Luisa Strina in São Paulo. In the early 1990s, he begins to devote himself to sculpture and works as a teacher in workshops. He participates in the Bienal Internacional de São Paulo in 1977, 1983, 1987 and 1991. In 1999, he completes his Master’s degree in Arts at Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo – ECA/USP with the dissertation Esculturas: rugas e alegorias, and, in 2002, he completed his doctorate degree in Arts in the same university, with the dissertation O vazio e o oco na escultura. Between 2000 and 2005, he taught at the Faculdade Santa Marcelina, São Paulo, and from 2007 on, at the Universidade Estadual Paulista – Unesp.
