Adriana Barreto was born in 1949 in Rio de Janeiro, where she lives and works. Currently, she paints, draws and creates installations, performances, videos and photos. Her biography is marked by exhibitions in various institutions, among which are: Museu de Belas-Artes in Rio de Janeiro; MAM – Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro; Museu de Arte da Pampulha, in Belo Horizonte, Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia, in Salvador, Brazilian-American Cultural Institute, in Washington; BIDE – Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento Econômico, in Washington, and Oi Futuro Flamengo, in Rio de Janeiro. In 1992, she participated the Festival International de la Peinture, Château Musée Grimaldi, in Cagnes-sur-Mer; in 2001, she participated the IV Bienal Barro de América at Centro de Arte Lia Bermúdez, Maracaibo, Venezuela. In 2012, she presented, at Museu das Comunicações, the exhibition “Agora sim”, under the initiative Portugal Brasil Agora, in Lisbon. She participated as well the group exhibition “Place of residence”, in Xangai, with the help of curator Alfons Hug.
