Born in São Paulo, Angelo Venosa attended NO AZUL PROFUNDO Escola Brasil in 1973. A year later he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he earned his degree in Industrial Design from the ESDI. In the 1980s, he attended the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage and, in 2007, he defended his master's dissertation at the Escola de Belas Artes da UFRJ. He emerged on the Brazilian art scene in the 1980s and was one of the few artists from the so-called “Geração 80” dedicated to sculpture. Since then, he has laid the foundations for a trajectory that includes visits to the Bienal de São Paulo (1987), Arte Brasileira do Século XX (1987, Musée d’Art Moderne de La Ville de Paris), Bienal de Veneza (1993) and Bienal do Mercosul (2005). In 2012, the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro dedicated an individual exhibition to celebrate his 30 years of career, continuing on to São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Recife. In 2008 and 2013 books on his work are released. Angelo Venosa has several public sculptures installed in various locations in Brazil, including: in the gardens of Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro; Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (Ibirapuera gardens); Pinacoteca de São Paulo (Jardim da Luz); Copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro; Santana do Livramento, Rio Grande do Sul; Parque José Ermírio de Moraes, Curitiba; Museu do Açude, Rio de Janeiro. With an innovative and challenging path, Angelo Venosa leaves an essential legacy in Brazilian modern art and culture.
